Transition Lockdown Drill
We are required to hold one of our three lockdown drills during a transition time. Tuesday's exterior threat drill will begin at 2:30 as our Y/K & 3rd graders are coming in from recess. As drills are for practice, we will ask that you pick students up at 2:30 as planned and move them to your classroom as quickly as possible.

If you are already in your classroom at that time, please remember to lock all doors, close your blinds, turn off all lights, ensure silence, take attendance & place your green/red card under the interior door (into the hallway).

We will have Nightlock systems installed on our classroom doors soon. Our maintenance crew has been working to install them at the high school and the middle school. This safety measure will eliminate the need to lock your classroom door from the hallway in case of an emergency situation.

Staff/SI Meeting on 3/10
We will come together in the media center after school on March 10th for a Brown School staff meeting. We will be joined by Bryan Parsons to talk through some technology items and will also welcome Adam Theisse, our athletic trainer, to learn about how to use the AED system in case of an emergency. Additionally, we will briefly review how to use an Epi-pen.

If you have anything to add to our agenda, please let Kristen know.

March is Reading Month and this year we are again celebrating with a March Reading Madness Tournament of Books. When the teams battle for their spots in the final four, our kids will be reading and voting for their favorite books to make it to the championship round. Fortunately no brackets can be busted since your kids will be reading nothing but great books.

Why Teachers Matter

Your students are always watching and listening. They learn as much from your example as they do from your lessons. Thank you for the model you provide and the way you mold young lives every day.

Reason #80: Teachers come alongside us and show us the way.
Brent remembers Mr. Bronson:

"Mr. Bronson’s agriculture class was my favorite in high school. I was interested in the content, but I also found Mr. Bronson interesting. He rarely taught through lecture, we learned while working out in the barn and the field. He would give just enough feedback and advice to help us move along.

One summer, Mr. Bronson offered a few of us the chance to earn a little money helping him repair some fencing on his own farm. While we worked, I asked him questions. I learned that his wife and young son died in a car accident years before. He didn’t seem bitter. In fact, he talked about how grateful he was for the time with them. He told me how the accident taught him that most of the things that had bothered him before weren’t really that important.

I learned important life lessons working alongside Mr. Bronson that summer. While we repaired the fence, he talked about doing the right thing, even when it’s hard. He talked about investing in others and how that investment comes back to you in unexpected ways. He invested in me, and I’m sure he didn’t expect me to return every summer to spend a few days helping him. But I did that until he finally sold the farm. I’m forever grateful for the wisdom he shared and for the impact he made on my life."

Keep going. You may not be able to see the impact you have,
but for one student, it might just last a lifetime. For even more inspiration, check out Safe, Seen, and Stretched in the Classroom, available now.
