Building Subs
We are excited to share that, effective immediately, we have secured two elementary building sub positions to support us in situations of shortages. Mackenzie Bishop will work every Wednesday afternoon, Thursday and Friday. Jill Wiesemes will work every Monday - Friday after her long-term position ends in Stephanie's room.
Here's the scoop:
*They will report to one "home" building, but could work at any of the three.
*We cannot pre-arrange their placement or request them ahead of time. They are for the situations where a last minute absence comes up at any of our three elementary buildings. If you know you'll be out, you will be asked to line up a different guest teacher.
*If a position is not open, we will have other support ideas/tasks for them to assist with.
We are looking for someone to work every Monday - Wednesday up until the holiday break - spread the word!
In addition, our sub pay rates have increased, especially for those who show dedication to our district by subbing for more than 10 days (non-consecutively) in our district throughout the course of the year. Here are the updated rates - spread the word!
$95 standard
$105 11-20 days
$160 21-30 days (non-consecutive)
$175 31+ days (non-consecutive)
Long-term subs (responsible for lesson planning, grading, etc.) make the base BA scale daily rate every day while in the position
Playground Build!
Hooray! Our brand new playground will be installed this week! Our students have been anxiously waiting for this.
There will be a fence around the equipment while they work on the installation. It could take all week for completion. We will let you know if we need to stay in during first recess only on Monday (only if the fencing is not yet set). Please remind your class that we expect all students to stay back and away from the equipment while the fencing is present.
Once it is ready to be opened up to our students, we will discuss some safety expectations. Please look for this to come later in the week once the construction is complete.

Spanish Club
Thank you, Dan, for bringing Spanish Club to our fourth grade students! The SJPS Foundation has funded his special projects grant to enrich the lives of up to 40 fourth graders by teaching them conversational Spanish during lunchtime. Along with printed resources and collaborative practice, students will use Duolingo for daily practice to bolster their skill set. How exciting! The club will begin soon. Thank you for your commitment to this opportunity and for sharing your passion with our students, Dan!
Geography Club
Fifth graders Mason Hochstetler and Averie Kallicragas have organized a learning opportunity for their fellow classmates that are interested in learning about geography during first recess once per week. These talented and motivated students presented their concept to me, complete with a Google Site, Google Form for signing up, meeting agendas, and schedule ideas. WOW! When you see Mason and Averie be sure to ask them how their club is going - they'd love to share!
When I count my blessings this season, I count each and every one of you twice. You all teach me so much about passionate service toward others, patience and persistence, high expectations, and love each and every day that I observe your interactions with our students and their families. Thank you for being who you are and for impacting the lives of others.
