#TeachersChangeLives

Welcome, Mackenzie!
While not entirely new to Brown School, Mackenzie Bishop will begin her student teaching with Amber Nowicki this week. We are delighted to welcome you to our staff!

Building Sub Update
Now that Mackenzie is intern teaching, we have secured two different elementary building subs for the remainder of the school year. Kyra Kuriata and Rachel Williams will report to the district five days per week to support us as guest teachers when unexpected absences arise.

Kyra recently completed her student teaching with Heather Bartz and will report to Lincoln daily (though will go where the need is between the three elementary schools).

Rachel finished her student teaching with Lisa Knuth at Clarke before the winter break and will plan to report to Brown daily. She will also travel where the need is.

Welcome Rachel and Kyra!

*As a reminder, the role of a building sub is to fill in for teachers when an unexpected absence presents itself. Please be sure to arrange a different guest teacher for planned absences.

Minecraft Update
We have made some back end changes to work around the Minecraft for Edu authentication issues were were seeing on the managed WiFi network. Student and teacher Chromebooks running Minecraft for Edu
should now work as expected on according to all of our testing. Please make sure any updates pending are run on the Chromebook device to ensure best results.

Ice Skating Day & Popcorn Friday

Friday, January 21st is sure to be an exciting day at Brown School. We will travel to the ice rink for some outdoor winter fun and will enjoy a treat all sponsored by our PTO.

The Soyks are chairing this event and are working to secure volunteers to help with tying laces and support on the ice. Volunteers will need to have a current background check on file no later than January 14th. Masks must be worn on the bus and in the staging area. They can be removed on the ice as it is an outdoor facility.

GOTR Coaches Needed

If you are interested in supporting our 3rd - 5th

grade girls by volunteering as a Brown School Girls on the Run Coach, please let Kristen know. Click here to learn about this amazing program. Thank you for considering this incredible opportunity!
