News from IT
Our IT Department is working to replace the classroom audio enhancement equipment in classrooms. They are prioritizing classrooms that do not currently have any working mics first. If this applies to your classroom, please send a help desk ticket to helpdesk.sjschools.org.
In addition, if your projector is incredibly dim in your classroom, please submit a help desk ticket to helpdesk.sjschools.org. While the projectors are aging, sometimes a bulb switch might just do the trick!
Guest Teacher Folders
It is essential that you have a folder readily available in your classroom in the event that you have to have a guest teacher. Please share the location with your teammates in case you are unable to come in to school to get your plans set out. Please be sure to label it "Guest Teacher Folder" and select a bright color so it stands out.
Your packet should include:
School emergency procedures such as fire drills and lock-downs - including maps.
Insights into individual student needs - who may need extra support, additional patience, kind reminders, etc.
Health concerns - please include if any student has asthma, diabetes or allergies.
Special accommodations - if any student needs special accommodations (like completing a test with Kelly in the resource room per his/her IEP) please include necessary details.
Map of the school - let the guest teacher know where important areas are such as the office, entrance/exit doors, adult bathrooms, teacher’s lounge, and student bathrooms.
Names of helpful grade level colleague(s) - provide the names of nearby teachers, along with the principal, secretary and custodian.
Extra responsibilities - if the guest teacher is expected to supervise recess, before or after school, please include the details (time, location).
Technology tips - make sure to include important passwords a guest teacher might need. Also, any tips and tricks for getting technology to work would be helpful.
Emergency day of lesson plans (generic, theme-based) in the event that you are unable to write/share plans in an emergency situation.
