Getting To Know You Forms
By now you have hopefully received completed “Getting To Know You Forms” from the majority of your students’ families. The expectation is to get one returned for each and every learner. If you have not received all your responses, please see this as an opportunity to reach out and connect with a student’s family either by phone or via email to see what barrier might be keeping them from returning this really important information.
If after looking over your students’ families responses, you have a concern or information you simply feel needs to be passed along, please don’t forget about the Brown Social/Emotional Concern form. This form can be used for any social emotional concern that arises during the school year.
Do not hesitate to reach out to Bri if you need any support with this!
CALM KITS
Last year during the high school “Win Time”, Beth Fairchild (SSW), supported students in creating tools for calm kits and made sure that there was a calm kit for each and every classroom at the elementary school buildings! They even included visuals of the students demonstrating how to use the tools in the unexpected and expected ways. Please watch this screencast that Beth put together to help provide you with a little bit more information:

These calm kits can be found in Erica's old classroom (aka new meeting room); they will be there for a couple of weeks. Please pick one up for your classroom in order to provide students some tools to support them in regulating. If you haven’t had the chance to create a calm corner or chill space, this kit would be a great starting point! Let Bri know if you have any questions or concerns!

Handle With Care is a partnership program between our schools and our local law enforcement agencies. The purpose of this program is to communicate when one of our students has been exposed to a traumatic event.
When a situation occurs in which police are involved, Kristen will receive an email from Handle with Care with the students' name, void of incident details. She will then notify staff members that interact with the student so that we can all sensitively support him/her throughout the day(s) - not with the intent to question or seek details in effort to greater support him/her, rather to be aware so that we can offer more understanding and delicate care.
