Staff News for the Week of September 14, 2020
What a rewarding week! Being together again is heart-warming. Additionally, the ability to meet and greet our students in such a personal way has been exactly what we all needed. The gift of being able to spend time with each student, not only getting to know him/her, but also making they feel heard, safe, and valued has been priceless.

Remote Learning Day
While students will be home on September 18th, you will be at school together for an afternoon debriefing and regrouping session. Please plan on being on-site from 8:45-2:55 that day. Bring your lunch and we will plan to "meet and eat" together so that we can "weekend" a bit earlier.
The schedule for class meeting connections is posted below. The focus of your time together should be on class building. Thank you for recording your session. Students that are not able to log on at the assigned time will need to refer to later. Students will access the meet link via your Google Classroom.
Inter-Richment Schedule 2020-21
For those of you new to Brown School, the term "inter-richment" refers to intervention & enrichment. Kristi DeVore, Carol Juodawlkis, and Megan Bolinder make up this incredible instructional support team. For the safety of all of our students and staff, each team member will be assigned two grade levels to support this year and will push-in to classrooms. The assignments are as follows:
Y5/K - Carol1 - Kristi2 - Megan3 - Megan4 - Carol5 - Kristi
We will work on specific times for SMART time push-in with grade level teams next Monday afternoon - I will come and visit your team.
Protected Math & Literacy Blocks will be MUCH easier to designate this school year due to the new daily schedule. Gaby will have her entire caseload on a 5 day schedule, making speech scheduling around protected times easier as well. Be thinking about common grade level time - 60 mintutes+ for math and 90 minutes+ (daily) for reading and writing (literacy). Daily SMART time/intervention/enrichment time should also be possible. The Recess & Supervision Schedule has been updated. Thank you, everyone, for your patience, inquiries, and feedback as we navigate new routines, schedules, and procedures. Be sure to check the "Classwork" stream of our Brown School Staff Google Classroom for updates of all of our "live" schedules and documents.

Please submit your lunch count by 9:30 daily. If there are changes to your count after submitting, please CALL SUE PUNCHES at x3535 (leave a message if she is not able to answer). Email isn't great as she may not get a chance to check it in time. Thank you!
Thank you all for your flexibility, patience, and adaptability. Things feel and look different, no doubt, but our commitment to students and each other is as present as ever.
