Summer Learning Challenge Medals!
I am so excited to share that we will be distributing 26 gold, 32 silver, and 22 bronze Summer Learning Challenge medals during Monday morning's news broadcast. This is such a fabulous rate of participation for our first challenge! Thank you for all of your supportive comments on our FB page, as well as your support to encourage participation with your students at the end (and start) of the school year.

On Monday, students will be asked to come to the media center AFTER the broadcast ends to receive his/her medal.  We will quickly take pictures of the medal recipients then they will be on their way back to your classrooms with proud smiles.

Transportation Clap-Out
In celebration of Bus Driver Appreciation Day on October 16th, we will be welcoming our amazing van, bus, and shuttle drivers in to the lounge after drop-off to enjoy breakfast from the PTO. At 9:30 (late start day), we will line the 4th/5th grade hall and cross halls leading out to the Y5/K hallway and clap for our drivers. If you would like to make cards in your classroom, I am sure they would LOVE them. We will plan to hang a banner in the lounge. The drivers names are:

Mrs. Jamie Allen
Mrs. Angela Davis
Ms. Marilynn Walker
Mrs. Cate Chartrand
Ms. Danielle Strong
Mr. Al Buursma
Mr. Dale Myer

SEL News

In the family blog this week two opportunities are being presented to families: Lory's Place Group and Changing Families Group.

Lory’s Place Group is a grief support group that is offered for students have experienced the loss of a significant person or people in their lives. Changing Families Group is a support group that is being offered for students who have experienced a change or transition in their family life. This might include the experience of divorce/separation, change in caregiver(s), or any impactful shift within the family. This group will focus on building coping skills and resiliency as well building a community with peers, which will provide an awareness that your student is not alone or the only student experiencing changes within the family.

As you become aware of your students' situations and lives outside of school, if you could pass along this information to Bri and/or share these opportunities with your students' families, it would be a great support for your students. Thank you!
You Rock!

Kudos to...

Kim for attending a workshop hosted by GELN to learning more deeply about the Essential Literacy Practices. We can't wait to learn all about what you learned!

Kent and Becky for opening their classrooms up to the cycle of curricular inquiry.

The many people who support "our" kids with walks and processing conversations. The collective effort not only sends the message to our colleagues that they are supported, but also to our students that we all care.

Sarah for sharing a terrific resource with staff.

Classroom teachers for flexibly allowing Kristen to come in to read to our students.

Natalie, Christa, and Ann for spoiling us with treats this week!

EVERYONE for another amazing week of learning together!

Side by side we learn and grow.
