Kindness Week is January 28th - February 1st. A HUGE thank you goes out to Stephanie and Jen for their leadership and planning for this special week again this year. Details are being developed and will be coming soon.

You are all so amazing! This has been such a rewarding and powerful week; full of active engagement, reconnection with classmates and leaders of learning. You are inspirational! Here are just a handful of all of the photos I snapped of your brilliance this week. 
A message from Consumers to you . . .
“We realize the winter months are cumbersome and create more work for the teachers and students with the extra clothing and even more, the wet and damp odor that comes with them. We now have a Made in Michigan solution for you!” Each classroom will receive 5 dryers in each box.
Per the folks at TheGreenGloveDryer “This energy-free drying solution is designed to sit directly over the vents (invents) in each classroom, capture the heat and dry from the inside out. . . Our new design features antimicrobial protection from Sanafor® which will inhibit 99% of bacteria and fungi growth in children’s wet, winter gear when placed on the dryers. Not only will the dryers provide an energy free drying solution this winter, but the added antimicrobial protection will work to reduce cold & flu
symptoms by inhibiting the spread of these germs in the kiddos gear even if your school does not have a direct vent system to blow air from the bottom of the dryer. Think of it as hand sanitizer in the plastic!
We will deploy the dryers as soon as they arrive.
PlayIt Safe! Classroom Presentations
We are partnering with the Childhood Assessment Center to bring the nationally recognized PlayIt Safe! Program to our school.
Play it Safe!® is a child abuse awareness and prevention program that incorporates age-appropriate scripts and movies to teach children how to reduce their risk of sexual and physical abuse, and sexual assault. It teaches them to recognize potentially abusive behavior, provides the tools to respond to threatening situations, and encourages them to report abuse to a trusted adult.
All students in K-5th grade will participate in a lesson designed with content specific to that grade level. Families will be notified of this program through our family blog the week of the events.
Through age-appropriate stories, elementary school students learn to recognize the three kinds of touch and are empowered with tools to respond using the 3-part safety rule if they are ever in an uncomfortable situation. This safety rule can be applied to many situations that students may encounter on a daily basis, such as bullying and online situations, peer pressure, or exploitation by friends/family. The safety rule encourages assertive responses, whether it is used with strangers or someone the child knows and loves.
Several concepts are reinforced throughout the program:
*Most people would never touch a child in an inappropriate way.
*There are three types of touch.
*Use the 3-part safety rule.
*It is NEVER too late to tell.
*Child abuse is NEVER the child’s fault.
