Engagement in Action

WOW! Way to bolster student engagement through partner work, kinesthetic learning, and immediate feedback, Brown Staff! Here are a just a few action shots that I took as I was out and about this week.

Class Meeting Reminder
As I visit classrooms more and more frequently, it will be important for your students to continue learning with little to no distractions. Therefore, at your next class meeting please ask your students not to say "hi" or my name as I enter your classroom. They should continue with learning as if I am not there because, after all, I am coming in to see their hard work. Thank you for your help with this. 🙂

NWEA Update
Rapid guessing is an issue that NWEA is working to resolve. They attempted to invalidate the tests of rapid guessers in the fall (with little to no notice to schools). They have decided to move away from invalidating tests in the future, however they have added a column to the grade breakdown report that will indicate students with "disengaged responses".

Kudos and Thank you to...

Kelly M., Stephanie, Elizabeth, and Carol for attending a two-day LLI training and for working hard to organize the plethora of amazing materials, setting a schedule to impact the growth of our kids, and for loving literacy!

Cheryl for greeting our students and families every morning. We are so thankful for the supervision you provide every day!

Kelly N. for grabbing "door duty" for us.

Carolyn and Christa for thinking outside of the box to support one of our most at-promise learners.

Sheli for reaching out for ideas to support her students that need instruments with special adaptations in order to make beautiful music.

Stephanie for sharing the working memory game she learned at a recent conference day.

Bri for attending her social work conference on behalf of SJPS - we can't wait to learn all of the great tools you acquired!

Who Am I?
You guessed it...Morgan Grimm was last week's mystery staff member. Let's take a look at our next amazing staff member:

This week's mystery staff member...
...likes to eat salads, pasta, chocolate, and soup.
...loves to go to the beach and adores the time she spends with her grandchildren Leo & Maddie.
...likes to watch This is Us & Grey's Anatomy
...would love to visit Charleston, Italy, and Chattanooga.

Shoot an energy arrow at a colleague this week - conferences can be draining! #ONE
