Active Supervision on the Playground
With only two people on recess duty many days, it is imperative that you head right out to the playground as soon as the bell rings. We need to ensure our students are safe and are making respectful and responsible choices.

In addition, staff on duty MUST divide into "zones" around the playground.

Zone One: swings, blacktop by fence, newer play place
Zone Two: older play place, Ga Ga ball pit, mid field
Zone Three: soccer fields - all the way back and along the fence

Please speak to your partner(s) about which zone you will play to actively supervise.

In addition, NO BALL PLAY WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE BLACKTOP BEFORE SCHOOL as parents are entering and MANY students are on the playground at once.

ONE MORE WEEK! Thank you for encouraging our students to finish this year's walk-a-thon strong!

Spotlight on Active Engagement
Why use Kagan structures? Click below to learn from the man who started it all, over thirty years ago, Dr. Spencer Kagan (my hero). 😊

Craving a Kagan boost? Join Jamie and I on October 25th at Brown for our time with our newest SJPS staff members.  Just bring your book and binder. We'd love to have you!

Professional Growth Goals - Due 10/31
It’s that time of year! Please add your personal professional growth goal for the year to your portfolio in iObservation by October 31st. As a reminder, your growth goal should be connected to our school improvement efforts and/or the Marzano framework. The portfolio entry doesn’t need to be long, but it should include a description of what you’d like to focus on, why it’s important to you and your students, and how you plan to go about learning/growing in that area.

Donuts with Dads
Please consider helping out with our annual Donuts with Dads event on October 23rd. We tried moving the event to 7:45 a.m. last year and noticed attendance was down. Feedback received was that families that needed to be at work at 8:00 couldn't participate. It is so important to us all to have an inclusive culture and to build engagement with our families, therefore we will begin at 7:30 again. Need your help - classroom visits - time

Time Capsule
We will soon be unearthing the time capsule that was buried outside of the media center 20 years ago this October! Dr. Jarpe will say a few words, then past staff members and students will dig in! Feel free to join us on Sunday, October 21st from 1:00-2:00 p.m.. Please note that our building will be open for our guests and past Brown School staff to reminisce and explore the changes at our amazing school.

Who Am I???
You guessed it...Stephanie Lear was our last mystery staff member. Let's explore this week's!

This week's mystery staff member...

...likes to watch Shameless, Call the Midwife, Orange is the New Black, and Anne with an E.
...would like to visit Scotland, Necker Island, Bali, and the Maldives.
...is afraid of llamas because they randomly spit on you.
