School Improvement / Staff Meeting
Tuesday is our final meeting of the year. We’ll be wrapping up this year with some of the perceptual data we’ve collected, school improvement plan next steps, year-end celebrations, and getting a jump start of planning for the fall. It’ll be a busy but productive hour! Please come prepared with ideas about how to inspire kids to learn over the summer, your Lexia ideas to showcase success, and your “best idea yet” of something you’ve done during the Welcome Back! Season (Aug & Sept) to get connected with your incoming families.
Teaching Candidates
Round one interviews have begun! There are five elementary openings this year (three retirements and two decisions to stay home with babies). If you know of someone who would make a great addition to our SJPS staff, please reach out and encourage them to apply via Applitrack on Berrien RESA's webpage. We have a pool of great candidates, but with so many openings it’s always nice to have a bunch of people interested in joining our team.
Year-End Conferences
We are in the process of scheduling year-end conferences with Kristen and all classroom teachers. Please look for an invitation to come via Google. This is a chance for us to sit down and talk about our first year together and potential goals for next year. You do not need to prepare anything in advance.
This week’s year-end tasks . . .
- Return all media center and book room materials that you are not going be using yet this year to help with inventory.
- Turn in your DPPD forms! See email from Kelly January 11, 2018 for details.
- Start (or continue) F & P tests so that they fit in among other learning and you don’t have too many to do each day! K-3 teachers: PLEASE START WITH YOUR STUDENTS BELOW THE 30TH% ON SPRING READING NWEA for I-RIP purposes.
Kudos and Thank You to . . .
- Natalie and Sarah for teaching us the Gmail interface with tutorials and offerings to help throughout the day - you two rock!
- Jen Fedewa for her dedication to our school and our third graders - we were so lucky to have you!
- Kevin and Rick for all they do every day to support us.
- Stephanie for hosting second grade learners and preparing them for third grade expectations.
- Kim, Sandy, Caroline, Hilary, Sue, Rick, and others who helped with our annual Muffins with Moms event.
- Elizabeth for her kindness in recess duty coverage to support her colleague.
- Kelly M. for all her work on year-end transition meetings, paperwork, and IEPs. We appreciate you!
- Linda and Kim B. for "adopting" students who don't always fare well in their classrooms and need a break space at times.
