M-STEP Tests for 3rd & 4th Grade start this week! Please remind students to enter and leave the media center and art room quietly.
M-STEP Administration Reminders
3-5 teachers and SpEd staff who will be administering or proctoring the MSTEP will need to read the administration manual and are expected to be familiar with the security requirements outlined in the assessment integrity guide. Pages 55-59 of the admin manual are especially important and will be in your mailboxes. Universal tools, designated supports, and accommodations are available based on the following guidelines. Please see the Accommodations & Supports document for details. Grade level teams must have designated supports to Kristen a week ahead of the testing window. Kelly M. already took care of students on her caseload. Please be sure students know and understand the tools available to them in the testing interface!
Universal Tools –available to all students
Designated Supports – supports designated by a teacher or administrator who works with the student
Accommodations –supports that require designation by an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or Section 504 plan
Please share your feedback on our Staff Safety Survey Be sure to submit your responses no later than Monday, May 7th so that we can share your responses at the staff meeting on Tuesday, May 8th.

Learning Lasts! Summer Camp
Invites are going out to students
this week. Please be sure you’ve updated the list for your grade level to
reflect priority students. Volunteer “camp counselors” (aka chaperones) are needed for Binder Park Zoo (June
19), South Bend Cubs Game (July 16), and Warner Camp (August 16). Please
let Kristen know if you may be interested in going along on one of these
trips.
Please let the office know if you hear of students who are moving! We’re working hard to keep track of students and follow up on rumored moves to help with planning sections for next year.
Placement documents and directions will be coming via email soon - please work collectively with your grade level team to balance classes. As a reminder, we do not accept specific teacher requests.

Avoid the year-end push!
Each week for the next four weeks we’ll offer you a couple year end task reminders to help you stay on track and lessen your stress come late May / early June. For this week . . .
- Welcome letters - Please provide 30 color copies (30) of your classroom welcome letter for next year’s kids to the office no later than Friday, May 11th. Remember - this is your chance to make a quality first impression and to help families get to know you a little as a person.
- Email summer maintenance requests to Kathy next week so that we can start generating work orders. Please be very specific in your request.
- Giving year end awards to your students? Why wait to make them? Do it now!!
